About the Conference

The School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), IIT Kharagpur as a part of its Platinum Jubilee Celebration is organising international conference 'TransMATTER 2026' jointly with the Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine India (STERMI). TransMATTER 2026 aims to bring together leading researchers, clinicians, industry experts, and young investigators working at the interface of materials science, bioengineering, and translational medicine. The agenda of this conference is to encourage innovation in healthcare, promoting collaboration across the emerging field of biomaterials and tissue engineering in the avenue of medical advancements. Additionally, it is to co-ordinate the bench-to-bedside translation of science and technology, prioritizing the development of affordable healthcare technologies and related regulatory issues. The conference will focus on emerging advances in Tissue engineering, Stem cell therapeutics. Organoids and Organ-on-a-Chip, Biomechanics, Gene Therapy in Regeneration, AI & ML in Tissue Engineering, Immune engineering, Scaffold engineering, Infection and inflammation control in Tissue Engineering, Nanotechnology in Tissue Engineering, and Drug delivery systems.

About SMST

The spectacular advancements in the realm of School Science & Technology that our globe has witnessed in the recent decades have been largely possible because of a marriage between Medicine & Technology. Millions of people all over the globe have been able to enhance their quality of life, yet billions more are still waiting to enjoy the fruits of this revolution.

Our mission is to provide a platform of Interdisciplinary Teaching and Research in the field of Medical Science & Technology, which can lead to a better Integrated Healthcare Delivery System. Innovations in Technology have led to spectacular advancements in Medicine. To meet the challenges posed by Medicine in the 21st Century, the country needs a new breed of medical professionals who can fuse together Medicinal Science with Technology and can bridge the two disciplines. Our vision is to have a medical academic institute with a Multi-specialty Research Centre at its core with the motto of education and collaboration for biomedical research and development alongside treatment and healthcare delivery to the patients.
